Project Overview
A companion mobile application for a connected digital inhaler, pairing over Bluetooth Low Energy to track usage adherence, coach correct inhalation technique, and journal symptoms for asthma and COPD patients.
The Challenge
Adherence is one of the largest drivers of poor outcomes in asthma and COPD. Patients forget doses, mistime them, or use poor technique — and clinicians have no visibility between visits. Cipla wanted to bridge the gap with a digital inhaler that talked to the patient and their care team.
Our Approach
We built the companion app that pairs with a connected inhaler over BLE, capturing dose timing, technique signals, and patient-reported symptoms. The app coaches patients on correct usage, surfaces adherence patterns, and lets patients journal their condition over time. The structured longitudinal data is exactly the substrate today's AI-driven respiratory care models are trained on.
The Outcome
Patients gained a feedback loop on adherence and technique they had never had before. Clinicians received a real, longitudinal view of how patients were actually using their medication between visits.
